I found the chapter “Indirect Narration, or What Tells,” very interesting and helpful. My writing definitely needs improvement in its descriptions. I have a bad habit that when I write I always first try to come up with a plot. Most of the time I can’t come up with an exact plot, and I try writing freely, but not having a plot always worries me and I make an abrupt ending in the story. Reading this chapter made me realize that plot isn’t everything to a story, and if I change my writing habits and write something descriptively, I could write a better short story. I did find the exercise of describing a place without a character challenging but it is something I also enjoyed. This chapter definitely needs to be incorporated in my writing.
