Chapter 5 in “Steering the Craft” too was helpful to me. Like the chapter Adjective and Adverb, this chapter too made me more conscious on if I was writing in active or passive voice. I know that passive voice is not interesting to read, I feel it makes the story seem unreliable. I still tend to use a lot of passive voice when I write because I think I am a bit lazy to change it to active voice when I notice that I am writing in passive voice. It takes effort to get away from this natural tendency I have to write in passive voice. I know it is something I have to break away from because reading passive voice is not interesting, and I would hate to keep writing pieces that are not interesting.
