This week’s chapter on Adjective and Adverb was extremely helpful to me. I tend to use a lot of unwanted words in my stories. I know there are many instances that I have used the word “just” or “very.” I also liked that the chapter talked about the words that have lost their meaning through overuse. I’m hoping this chapter will help me be more conscious of the word choices I make. I know when I read it is so much easier to understand a clear concise sentence as opposed to having to look for an idea in a long string of words. I have a tendency to write long sentences in most papers I write and it is something I am trying to get away from. I think applying this concept to writing short stories will, to an extent, help me from getting away from this habit in my academic writing.
