Classmate Response: Week 10 - Yeeva’s Blog 10 Random Impulse 1

I think Yeeva is an awesome writer! I really like the twist in this story. When I started reading it I did not expect it to end the way it did. I think it is really interesting the way she combined Calliope’s choice of a flower-printed sun dress with her father’s death. I think the story has a good flow as well. She uses some beautifully structured sentences. I particularly liked the two lines, “If there was any animal to describe herself, she would compare herself to a sloth—lethargic, dumpy, and generally not preferable among the animal kingdom” and  “During high school, she contemplated for a month about joining a nice convent and making Communion wafers and tabernacle pieces until the end of her days.” This short story is brilliant just the way it is but if I am to make a suggestion I think she could expand a bit more about her father’s death. Right now it is a bit abrupt how there is only one line that describes it.
