Junkyard Quotes: Week 13

1.   “If you know it’s gonna work it’s not an experiment”
I read or heard this quote recently and I simply love it. I always have trouble accepting it when an experiment does not turn out the way I expected, but I need to remember that it is all part of research. It won’t be research if I already knew it was going to happen. I this can be applied to creative writing as well. If you already know the plot of the story line it won’t be fun writing it. Sometimes the best plots or story lines come out of random writing that seem to not make any sense at first.
2.   “They said nothing, that’s the worst part”
One of my friends got in trouble with her parents recently and they had said nothing other than give the disapproving nod. I know exactly what she means, because it would be the same case with my parents. They wouldn’t shout or ground me, they would say nothing and that really is the worst part. I guess the cliché statement ‘actions are louder than words’ is true.
3.   “My spine feels like licorice.”
I need to note the author of quotes when I jotted it down on my notebook, because here is yet again another quote that I’m not sure from where I got. I found it an interesting expression because it’s not something you would hear every day. I like how I would notice a sentence like this now because a semester ago I wouldn’t have given it a any thought.
4.   “Weddings and celebrations are medicine to the soul”
These two girls were talking about people who were complaining about the royal wedding in the elevator, and this was one of the reasons one girl gave for why people shouldn’t complain. I thought it was funny the way she phrased it and I somewhat agreed to it. There is so much debate about if it is right for some to be celebrating while others are mourning and there is so much war, corruption and tragedies going on. Well, I think you need to celebrate because life is too short and bad things are always going to happen. So I agree with this girl, weddings and celebrations are medicine to the soul, they give people the temporary to relief to keep going forward.
5.   “All rivers flow to the same ocean, however them may flow”
This was one of my friend’s reply when he was asked about his religious views. I think about religion the same way. The way I see it, religion is meant to help you be a better person, whatever religion you may follow. I don’t think the purpose of religion is to divide people. However, there will always be the extremists.
