I simply loved reading Craig Raine’s poem “A Martian Sends a Postcard Home,” and it has really made me appreciate the creativity that goes into writing poetry. At first I did not understand what the poem was about, but after reading it many times and after discussing it in class it was so clear. The poem used a lot much imagery and challenges the use of the English language. It was particularly fascinating to read his description about the bathroom, the manner he describes something that is deemed to be inappropriate in such a comical and unique way. I now have a new found appreciation for poetry!
