Junkyard Quotes: Week 2

1.      How terrible it is that people were made in such a way that they get used to something as extraordinary as living.”
I got this from a friend’s facebook status. I found it a really interesting saying because I know how much I take living for granted, and it reminds me to be a bit more thankful for actually being alive.

2.      Don’t wait for miracles; your whole life is a miracle.”
One of my friend’s said this during a conversation and it is in the same lines as the saying above. We wait around for amazing things to happen in our lives forgetting or failing to realize all the amazing things that are already going on.
3.      “Writing poetry is like working hard in a playground.”
While in conversation with Jonette (Secretary in the English Department), she said this line which I think perfectly sums up the process of writing poetry.

4.      How beautiful these juicy beaded blackberries look glinting darkly out of that pale billowing duvet of cream.”

I read this on the internet and it was said by Nigella Lawson, a food show host. She uses a lot of colorful words which I found interesting. I also thought it incorporated the p’s and q’s that were mentioned in the book Writing Poetry.

5.      I love the way black olives look like teddy bears noses.”
This is another line by Nigella Lawson which I found was out of the ordinary and the type of line that can be used in a poem.
