Junkyard Quotes: Week 1

1.     "The impossible is often the untried."
I got this saying in a fortune cookie the past weekend. I usually do not think twice about fortune cookie quotes but as lame as this may sound, I felt like it was speaking to me. I thought it was ironic that I found this quote because I had been contemplating giving up on something that I really wanted saying it was impossible.

2.     "Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton asked why."
I cannot remember where I heard this, but it is a quote by Bernard Baruch. I heard it sometime last year and it really struck me how the simplest questions gives rise to some of the most fascinating findings.

3.       "In a way it’s good that you’re hurting because pain is considered to be weakness leaving the body."
I overheard these two girls talking in the sitting area in TLC. This girl was trying to console her friend who was going on about how much it hurts to not have her boyfriend anymore. I found it a funny but interesting way to think about pain.

4.      "The winters will drive you crazy until you learn to get out into them."
This is a quote from the book ‘Let Your Life Speak’ that I read in one of the psychology classes last semester. I liked it because I remembered how much I hated it when I went through my first winter. I hardly went out unless I had to, and I complained so much that the winter was making me depressed. But now that I have gone through a few winters, it’s really not that bad (at least in Georgia) and most importantly it does not stop me from going anywhere anymore. I think this could be applied to any problems or fears we have in life. Problems are only problems until you decide to face them.

5.      "I hate leaving stones unturned."
One of my friends said this when we were having an argument. I was really mad at him and I was not willing to give into any explanations but this statement made me laugh, and I don’t know why but it also made me forgive him. So I thought I should add it to the junkyard quotes!
