Writing is not something that comes naturally to me; it takes a lot of my effort and time. Thinking back, my English courses have been the only classes that I worried about not getting the grade I wanted. I had to work hard to do well, and in the end I was always successful. They really challenged me and I always felt like I was learning so much. Plus, I have never had to force myself to go to class when I have taken an English course, and I really like that feeling! So on and off I try to add an English course to my semester schedule. That is how I came about to take this Creative Writing class as well. I know this class will be especially challenging because I have never written a proper poem or short story, but I am being optimistic and I am really looking forward to learning as the semester progresses. As Professor Elisson said the first day of class, writing is not always an innate skill, you learn as you keep practicing.
