I think Yeeva’s poem is well written and I enjoyed reading it. I liked that it was easy to read and that it had lots of imagery. I especially liked how the tone changed as the poem proceeded. At the start of the poem it seems like it’s just another proud mother describing her beautiful daughter on her wedding day. However, soon you realize that it is the plight of a mother as she gives her young child away in the hope of giving her a better life. I think Yeeva had a good choice of words that made me sympathetic towards the mother as opposed to just being sympathetic towards the child. I think it’s a really nice poem but if I am to make a suggestion, I would say that maybe she could expand the second stanza with a bit more detail.
